Sometimes we are tempted to think we can barter with God. If I increase my faith, then maybe God will give me what I want in our timing. This is one of many misconceptions about the life of faith. True faith means holding onto God's promises even if they aren't always fulfilled in your lifetime. The patriarchs had to come to grips with this type of faith as they looked forward to the blessings of the promise even though God did not ultimately fulfill His promises to them in their lifetimes. But death will not stop us from receiving God's promises.
