Most people, even if they are not athletic, can appreciate the sporting analogies the author of Hebrews pens in chapter 12. We know or can at least imagine, the indefatigable dedication and sacrifice it takes to compete in sports. When athletics is done right, it can be admirable. The author of Hebrews places us on the field with an audience of historic Christians who crossed the finish line and won the prize. The question is, how should we run? What is the prize at the end of the finish line? Do we compete against other Christians?
