David & Bathsheba
This text automatically comes with a deep sense of grief, disappointment and wary concern. David failed big. There was no excuse for what he did. This passage teaches us that all people, even great kings, are still human. Christ is the only person who fulfilled the standard of the perfect person. Various questions should come to mind when reading this text. Was Bathsheba in the wrong to bathe on the rooftop? What does this narrative teach us about lust? (cold, impersonal, selfish etc...) What incredible contrasts do we see in just these 5 verses?
